Split – Milna (Brač) – Stomorska (Šolta) – Nečujam (Šolta) – Split
Your 50 NM adventure would start in Split , the biggest town on Croatian coast with 1.700 years old history. But the main thing about Split, beside old city core, beautiful promenade, friendly people, great parties, beautiful nature, and more, is about his temper, there is a reason why Emperor Diocletian choose exactly Split to be his relaxing place after a retirement. Old Romans found out something in Split, something we still enjoy 1.700 years latter.
After departing from Split, not too early in the morning, and leaving the prettiest seaside in the world, behind you, you’ll head towards Milna on the northwest side of the Island Brač. After you set your sail towards Milna you’ll feel what it’s like to sail through the prettiest archipelago on earth. You will not be able to resist helping your skipper hoist and trim the sails or even try yourself in navigation. Located on the northwest side of the island, Milna or as the Venetians called it “Valle di mille navi” (the bay of a thousand ships) has always been a favorite port to sailors sailing through the central Adriatic. Milna is still reputed to be the most beautiful and safest harbor of Brač . Curious explorers will be fascinated by the nearby coves of Lučice with popular restaurant, Osibova Bay, the harbor of Bobovišća, the village of Ložišća and especially the small island of Mrduja located at the entrance to the harbor.
After exploring Milna you’ll head on towards Island of Šolta which is placed right across Milna, on the other side of the 1.2 NM long strait named Split Gate (Croatian: Splitska Vrata). Šolta is an island in the central Dalmatian archipelago. Although just an hour sailing from Split, its natural environment and absolute peace and silence have remained untouched. Its 24 bays and 4 ports can take more than thousand small yachts. Šolta is an unavoidable sailing destination. Šolta island is very peaceful and quiet Island. Its inner side looking towards Split and Čiovo, but also very cruel and unpredictable on its southern side where open sea makes its own rules. Legend says there was Teuta queen ruling and defending it from Romans. As soon as she realized Romans could reach her, she took her great treasure and jumped into underground river. Since then, every trace is lost forever. Tourists may take this challenge and fulfill their vacation looking for lost treasure. Vicinity of civilization is more than advantage for most of places on Šolta, primarily thanks to often ferry and catamaran lines with Split. First place you’ll visit on Šolta is Stomorska . Where you’ll have a lunch, rest yourself a little, and walk through the city. Stomorska is the oldest town on the island which is on the water and has an excellent gastronomic marina.
Yachtsmen also like Nečujam , our second “must see” place on the island. Nečujam is placed on the north side of the island in narrow and long inlet which is completely protected from any kind of natural disturbance, with sea looking as calm as it is frozen. This is excellent recommendation for families with kids looking for rest. At late afternoon you’ll have to leave Nečujam and head back to Split. After enjoying whole day in three beautiful but subtle places, you’ll experience the most romantic adventure which is Sailing towards Split in the sunset.
